Duties and responsibilities:
  • Maintain experimental facilities used for research in soil, crop and climate sciences, including the maintenance of laboratory facilities, climate cabinets and greenhouses on the Bloemfontein campus.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the experimental farm Kenilworth in Bainsvlei.
  • Maintain farm equipment and farm infrastructure (stores, irrigation facilities, etc.).
  • Implement trails in the field under controlled conditions.
  • Collect data from trails.
  • Assist with practical training for students.
Inherent requirements:
  • Grade 12 or national vocational certificate on NQF Level 4.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience related to the duties and responsibilities including practical experience with crop production/ farm management/ maintenance of equipment/general repair jobs.
  • A valid code C1 (Code 10) driver’s license (EB driver’s license will be an advantage).
Recommendations:
  • A three-year national diploma on NQF Level 6 in a relevant field.
  • Ability to carry out physically demanding farm duties.

Salary:
The annual remuneration package, including benefits is R 354,408.50 – R 444,721.26 per annum depending on the budget available for the position, relevant work experience and qualifications.
The salary is available on request.
